Aidan Bokelman

roots: illustrator, 3D modeling

High atop a hill overlooking San Carlos, an assuming Bay Area town, is where I spent my formative years. A child of a
creative and artistic mother and focused and driven father, I found myself writing and drawing every chance I could. In Kindergarden, I met a fellow artist and lifelong friend that challenged me and inspired my path. The two of us shared a wicked sense of humor and together began to illustrate our ideas.

In high school, my head was often in the clouds, but it was clear that my passions lie in illustration and character design. I wanted to continue to develop skills necessary to make a living as a commercial artist. I attended a summer art experience program at the Academy of Art and loved it, so enrolled full time for college. I found my focus for college when my brother Kevin, who later became a successful mechanical engineer, introduced me to 3d software on a woefully slow computer. Although math was never my strong subject, I discovered I took to geometry quite naturally which lent itself instinctively to creating objects in 3d.

One can not visit or inhabit San Francisco, without being confronted by Academy of Art buildings. In many of these buildings, I was broken down and rebuilt by incredible instructors. Around this time, I met Mike Lowe and other students who would remain in the city after graduation and attempt to infiltrate our respective industries. Under the incredible tutelage of the head animator and studio owner Gary Jaeger, I picked up a profound understanding of Maya and After Effects.

These days find me wearing a number of different hats, adapting to job pipelines as a 3d modeler and Maya generalist.
